President of University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Visits SJTU

On May 23rd, Prof. Robert J. Jones, President of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign visited SJTU, accompanied by Prof. Reitumetse Mabokela, Associate Dean of International Exchange. SJTU President, deputy secretary of the party committee Lin Zhongqin, and vice president Xu Xuemin on behalf of SJTU met the guests at Minhang campus.

 

The two parties reviewed recent exchanges between the two schools. School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering, School of Naval Architecture, Ocean & Civil Engineering, and School of School of Life Sciences & Biotechnology respectively made introductions and briefed proposals on cooperation. Robert J. Jones is very pleased with the progress of cooperation between the two schools, claiming that SJTU is one of their most important international partners with infinite cooperative possibilities in medicine and engineering. Lin Zhongqin hopes that both universities can maintain a good momentum of cooperation, and together make new contributions to the global engineering education and scientific and technological progress.

 

University of Illinois consists of three campuses, namely Urbana-Champaign, Chicago and Springfield. University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) is considered as its flagship campus, founded in 1867, with a wide range of disciplines, and deemed as one of the best public universities in the United States. There are more than 47,000 students, alumni and professors. It has won a total of 23 times Nobel prizes in history.
