SJTU held 2nd China-Germany Manufacturing Industrial Digital Transformation Seminar

On November 8, "The Second China-Germany Manufacturing Industrial Digital Transformation Seminar", co-sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Engineering and ACATECH, was held by Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) at Shanghai International Conference Center.

Zhou Ji, President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Henning KAGERMANN, the President of ACATECH and the general designer of "Industry 4.0", as well as Lin Zhongqin, the President, Vice Party Secretary of SJTU, Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering attended the seminar and delivered remarks. Zhou Ji pointed out that "Made in China 2025" is the largest manufacturing industry improvement scheme in the globe, where the members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering played an important part.

Henning KAGERMANN mainly introduced the impact digital transformation had on manufacture and people's lives. On behalf of SJTU, Lin Zhongqin delivered his remarks, saying that manufacturing industry is the country's root and the precondition for a country to be strong. Doctor Tanja RUCKERT from Germany's SAP Company made a speech titled "when software becomes strategy", emphasizing on the enormous changes brought by "Industry 4.0" software. Liu Baicheng, an Academy Member from Tsinghua University stressed that digital designing and manufacturing are key techniques of artificial intelligence, and modeling and simulation are the foundations of science.

Professor Albert SHIH, a professor of Engineering, Biomedical Engineering and ISD made a speech centered on American manufacturing network, and explored how to enhance America's manufacturing industry with the current research and manufacturing power.

Lin Zhongqin made a speech titled "intelligent manufacture: meaning and application", and analyzed the manufacturing status from the angle of digital transformation. Centered on core techniques in digital technology and AI, he raised new opinions about the meaning of intelligent manufacture.

Doctor Norbert GAUS, VP and the head of Digital and Automation R & D Department of Siemens made a report titled "digitalization-comprehensive strategy needs to be backed by global standards". Michael DOWLING, an ACATECH Member introduced German manufacturing companies with leading digital business models, and Li Bohu, an Academy Member gave his suggestions on intelligent manufacturing Cloud.
